Happy Valentines to everyone!

The next few months will be flying by, and there is a great deal to accomplish. We are very excited about what we are planning for recital, and we will continue to send out more information on it. Please remember that the recital fee of $12.00 is due in February. As we have mentioned before, this fee is necessary to pay for rent as well as the light and sound technicians on our recital facility, and we know that we will have incredible facilities, and the people we work with are very professional. We should receive confirmation very soon on our recital dates. As soon as we have the date set for sure we will post it on the bulletin board in the waiting room, and on our blog, and Facebook page. We will start sending out notices of costume balances over the next few weeks, as we finalize our costs, so be watching for these. All costumes must be paid in full by the end of March. If there are any past fees that you are not current on, including shoe orders, please get them in as soon as possible. Let us know if you need to work out anything on payments. Remember that all fees must be paid in full in order for the dancer to participate in recital. We will be taking pictures before recital, but it is completely up to each of you as to what you purchase at that time. For our finale this year we want the dancers (kindergarten age and up, creative movement classes are not in the finale), to be dressed in all white. This can be anything from dresses to pants or shorts and a top, as long as it is all white. Please remember to keep it modest and age appropriate, and if you need a white leotard to go under it let your teacher know asap.

Everyone needs to provide their own garment size costume bag that can be hung up. If you already have one of your own or one from last year that is still in good shape we can use it again. If you need to buy a new one, we have found that Wal-Mart has some that work pretty well for about $3 - $4. Each dancer will need one and we need you to bring them into us as soon as possible as we color code labels by class and put them on the bags. Please make sure that your dancers name is on the bag when you hand it in so that we can get their particular bag back to you.

We are not planning on canceling any classes this month (i.e. Presidents Day etc.). Please note that we mentioned in our November newsletter concerning our winter weather policy that if school is cancelled due to weather only, we will cancel classes. We base this on the Rigby School District as that is the district we are located in. There are simply too many school holidays to cancel every time school is out. If you have a question please call or check our blog at “danceunlimitedrigby.blogspot.com”, or friend us on Facebook, for updated posts. We will be working very hard in class to complete our dances as soon as possible so that we will have time to perfect them before recital. It is very important that all dancers are in attendance, and that they come to class prepared to learn. We also continue to do a variety of activities and exercises to provide a well rounded dance education. Prompt arrival and pickup is crucial in order to assure that each dancer will get the full extent of everything that we are working on in class. Many of you have sent CD’s for copies of the music so that your dancers can practice at home. We appreciate this and encourage those of you who do not have copies of the music yet to get your CD’s in immediately. It is amazing how many people bring them in to be recorded the week or two before recital, and by then it is almost to late for your dancer to get in any quality practice. Just as with any lesson, i.e. piano, etc. dance is something that must be practiced at home. A great deal of time can be wasted in our classes if we have to re-teach things that are simply forgotten during the week. It also helps us to know if certain things are not being comprehended and need more work in class. We also encourage you to feel free to video tape dances that we are working on, as this can be very valuable in helping the dancer to remember the steps and their sequence. Our most important goal is always the dance education of our students, and we want to make every effort to ensure that they are able to learn and progress in both their skills as well as their appreciation for dance.

We are looking for class Mom’s to help with recital preparations, so if you are interested, please let us know. There are a variety of things that need to be done as recital draws closer, and all help is sincerely appreciated!

We also feel that it is necessary to once again remind all dancers that they need to be dressed in dance attire. We prefer black leotards and pink tights, especially for the younger dancer’s, and black dance pants with appropriate tops for the older ones. It is incredibly important that we are able to see if the dancers are holding and positioning their bodies correctly, as well as them having the freedom and ability to move in what they have on, and this is not possible if they are not dressed appropriately.
